Kim is Board Secretary and member of Bridges Middle School Board since 2021.

Kim’s love for design and problem-solving began at the age seven when her grandmother introduced her to a Singer sewing machine. She studied design at Oregon State University, earning a B.S. in Apparel Design with a Minor in Merchandising Management. At OSU, she directed the Annual Fashion Show and served as Student Ambassador to her college where she discovered a passion for mentoring and teaching others.

Kim’s hire by Nike after college set her on a path to make a big impact.

A Mission-Driven Creative

Inclusion drives Kim, whether creating solutions for athletes, crafting brand-wide creative direction, or leading teams and enterprise-wide initiatives.

Her first job was assistant apparel designer at Nike Golf, quickly rising to Senior Designer and then Creative Director leading cross-functional design teams that shaped apparel for some of the world’s most iconic athletes.

In her 25+ years at Nike, she established Nike’s Global Color Design organization, and held leadership roles in Creative Intelligence, Culture & Community Outreach, as well as Blue Ribbon Studio—Nike’s world-class maker space. As Co-Chair of Nike’s Disability Network, she championed disability inclusion and accessibility across Nike’s global employee community.

Today Kim leads Nike’s Design Education & Design Development delivering transformational curriculum and experiences that advance designers in creative careers.

Journey to and from Bridges

Kim’s interest in Bridges began when her son Declan was in grade school. Despite being athletic, charismatic and intelligent, school was a daily battle.

After challenging years and daily calls from teachers, she realized public school was no solution. The interview at Bridges immediately indicated a better path which was confirmed by Declan’s shadow experience. “Mom, I just spent an entire day with kids who are just like me,” he told her.

Over the next four years, Bridges nurtured Declan’s academic and social-emotional growth. For the first time he thrived and loved going to school. He became a student leader, earning Ambassador of the Year

Despite the success, as Declan’s body grew, an unknown congenital disorder presented and severely limited his mobility.  After Bridges graduation, he underwent surgery and recovery that allowed him to make the transition to high school, achieving his goals of playing football and participating in theater. In 2026 Declan will graduate La Salle Catholic College Preparatory High School. After graduation, he plans to study aviation maintenance technology.

Building the Future

While Declan attended Bridges, Kim hosted monthly school-wide events for families to connect outside the classroom. In 2021, she was awarded Bridges Volunteer of The Year and asked to join the Bridges Board.

As Board Secretary, Kim is responsible for maintaining accurate records, ensuring governance of the board. She is a champion for making Bridges accessible to more families and is proud of how the board has contributed to the school’s growth, especially the move to its new official home. “Not only do we have an incredible team of dedicated staff, our new space promotes dignity. When kids feel valued and invested in, they rise and accomplish more.”

Outside the Boardroom

In her free time, Kim enjoys art, sport, and travel with her two children — cheering enthusiastically at their sporting events and performances. She shares a love of horses with her daughter, Delaney, who plans to become an equine veterinarian. Both Kim and Delaney hold rated riding certifications as members of United State Pony Club

At her core, Kim is all about creativity, education, and accessibility. “My superpower is connecting and enabling others. Whether it’s through design or community building, I strive to create spaces for people to thrive.”
