Bridges Middle School is excited to announce a new partnership with Park Academy and the Park Center Tutoring Program, expanding access to specialized literacy support for students with dyslexia and related learning differences throughout the Portland metropolitan area.
For both organizations, this partnership reflects a shared belief: students with learning differences deserve access to instruction that recognizes how they learn, builds on their strengths, and gives them the tools and confidence to thrive.
Park Academy created the Park Center to build on its mission of providing an inclusive community where evidence-based practices empower students with dyslexia and related learning differences to reach their highest academic and personal potential. Through the Park Center Tutoring Program, Orton-Gillingham-trained educators provide individualized, one-on-one instruction designed to strengthen the literacy skills of struggling readers.
Bringing Specialized Dyslexia Support Closer to Portland Families
As part of this growing partnership, Bridges Middle School will serve as the Park Center Tutoring Program’s primary Portland location, making Park Academy’s specialized tutoring services more accessible to families in Portland and surrounding communities.
Hosting Park Center tutoring on the Bridges campus is an important extension of Bridges’ broader commitment to the neurodivergent community. While Bridges provides a full-time specialized middle school program, we know that many students throughout the region—including those attending other public and private schools—need additional, targeted support for dyslexia and literacy development.
By opening our campus to this partnership, we can help connect more families with high-quality, evidence-based intervention without requiring them to travel to Park Academy’s Lake Oswego campus.
Most importantly, students do not need to attend Bridges Middle School to access Park Center tutoring at Bridges. This partnership is intentionally designed to serve the broader community.
A Shared Commitment to Evidence-Based Literacy Instruction
Dyslexia is not an indication of intelligence or potential. But without instruction that is appropriately designed for how a student learns to read, persistent struggles with literacy can affect far more than academics. Over time, they can influence confidence, willingness to take risks, and a student’s belief in themselves as a learner.
The Park Center model addresses those challenges through individualized literacy instruction delivered by Orton-Gillingham-trained educators.
The program currently includes 24 individual tutoring sessions for $2,400, plus a $100 intake and assessment fee.
For Bridges, partnering with Park Academy is also an opportunity to strengthen connections among organizations serving neurodivergent learners rather than asking families to navigate those resources independently.
Building a Stronger Network of Dyslexia Support
Bridges and Park Academy each occupy a unique place within Oregon’s educational landscape, but our missions intersect around a powerful idea: when students receive instruction designed around their learning profiles, their possibilities expand.
This partnership is about more than sharing space.
It is about creating stronger pathways between schools, specialists, families, and community resources. It is about increasing access to dyslexia-informed services throughout the Portland metro area. And it is about imagining how organizations committed to neurodivergent learners can work together to extend their impact beyond the students enrolled within their own walls.
